"Ethereum Classic is a decentralized platform that runs smart contracts: applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third party interference.Ethereum Classic is a continuation of the original Ethereum blockchain - the classic version preserving untampered history; free from external interference and subjective tampering of transactions."
What we don't like:
The first Ethereum DAPP, the DAO was hacked for $50,000,000. The hack took place right after the ICO and amounted to 15% of the total supply of Ethereum being stolen. After a debate within the Ethereum community, the Ethereum Foundation decided to fork Ethereum into two coins, Ethereum and Ethereum Classic. On the Ethereum blockchain, all stolen funds were returned to those who invested in the DAO. On the Ethereum Classic blockchain, the funds remained missing. The majority of miners, developers, and the community moved over to the Ethereum blockchain. It can not be overstated how much less popular Ethereum Classic is to its juggernaut cousin Ethereum.
What we like:
Ethereum Classic is held up by the convictions of developers who believe that a decentralized blockchain should not be split/forked/tampered with by a centralized party. Ethereum Classic is the original Ethereum blockchain. The commonly used Ethereum was forked by the Ethereum Foundation to save face after a major hack in the early days of the project. Ethereum Classic is Ethereum’s Libertarian cousin. Ethereum Classic is the original Ethereum blockchain unchanged by the developments to Ethereum.
